This weekend at the cottage, we encountered poison Ivy. The typical bumps lined up in a row and yes, they were itchy!

The key is to get the poison Ivy oils off the skin.

Assemble the following items:

– 4×4 gauze or some paper towel

-household bleach

-dishwashing  liquid soap

The remedy is as follows:

On the clean gauze or paper towel,  place a small amount of bleach to make it wet, but not dripping wet. Add a small amount of dishwashing liquid soap.

Place the damp gauze on the area affected and swipe in a single motion, don’t rub it.  Fold the gauze and repeat if needed.

If the skin feels like it is burning, wipe the area with a damp cloth or gauze.

The redness should go down within a few minutes and the itch should stop.

If you have multiple areas affected,  use a new gauge for each area.  Avoid adding poison ivy oils from the other areas.

If you have sensitivities to gauze, bleach or dishwashers detergent, do not use this remedy.

Let me know how this works for you, would love to hear from you!
